There is so much that has been said and that can be said about Christ’s resurrection from the dead. It is the cornerstone of our faith. Personally, Christ’s resurrection gives me hope. From a natural perspective all seemed lost on Good Friday. It was a crushing day for Mary, Peter, John and the rest of the disciple. In their place I would have felt emotionally devastated, defeated, confused and desperate. However, by Sunday morning everything changed, everything.
What looked like the end… was the beginning.
What looked like losing… was winning.
What looked like defeat… was victory.
What looked like death… was life.
As a follower of Christ, the power of the resurrection is still at work in me. This infuses me with hope! No matter what my circumstances might be, no matter how bad things might look, I have hope. To quote an old Christian song “thought it seems like Friday night, Sunday’s on the way”. (Does anybody else remember Carmen?)
What if my present circumstances are only a Friday night and my Sunday is coming? To all of you Friday night-ers out there, what ever you do, DON’T QUIT! Hold on to hope, resurrection hope.
Lord, give us the grace we need for our Fridays and the faith we need for our Sundays, amen
Happy Easter!

And if the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead is living in you, he who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through his Spirit, who lives in you. (Saint Paul, Romans 8:11)
